Description
The Baler Operator efficiently loads and unloads the baler while maintaining a safe and organized work area while achieving company goals, under the direction of the Area Supervisor. Additional responsibilities include equipment upkeep, non-mechanical maintenance, and safe operation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate baler on a daily basis
- Record hourly/daily log of total weight materials
- Record down time of the baler flow
- Perform physical duties that are associated with the operation of equipment
- Follow direction of the Area Supervisor with regards to daily production and activities to complete the job
- Perform daily preventative maintenance on equipment as required
- Follow the dress code and compliance of proper PPE at all times
- Work independently in the absence of direct supervision
Requirements
- Knowledge of Non-Ferrous metals
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work efficiently
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Passa pre-employment background check
- Willing to work overtime and weekends when necessary
Education/Experience
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills
- Heavy equipment experience preferred (skid steer, front end loader, crane)
- Material handling experience
Physical Requirements
- Sit and stand for long periods of time
- Lift 50 lbs or more every hour
- Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
