Job Description

Manufacturing Technician, Wafer Fab – Back End Days (BED)

Compressed Work Week-Back End Days - Every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and every other Wednesday.  5:30 am- 6:00 pm 

 

Earn $30.00 to $40.00 per hour based on experience and shift

The Manufacturing Technician performs functions associated with wafer production, including photolithography, thin film, etch, diffusion, inspection, bonding and saw and grind.  Technician responsible for training of peers, process and operational improvement and equipment maintenance.  Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to other nonexempt personnel.  Collects and evaluates operating and process data and recommends means to improve operational processes.  Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.  Responsible for, and makes recommendations to, fulfill departmental quality, safety, quantity and teamwork requirements.  May be required to ensure other technicians adhere to departmental quality, safety, quantity and teamwork requirements.

 

This position schedule is considered a Compressed Work Week - Back End Days - Every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and every other Wednesday.  5:30 am - 6:00 pm  

 

May participate in safety forums, Emergency Response Teams and station improvement teams.

  • EXPERIENCE: Typically requires a minimum of 4 - 6 years of related experience.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Discusses technical problems encountered with supervisor or engineering personnel.
• Works from formal and informal written/verbal instructions, specifications, technical manuals and engineering sketches.
• Works closely with engineers and senior technicians.

• Trained in proper handling of chemicals and hazardous waste.

 

 

 

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY:

• May provide guidance to other nonexempt personnel. 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. • High school degree or equivalent and 4-6 years of related experience.
• Basic computer skills including the use of standard office software, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a diverse team, as well as individually.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be highly organized.
• Must be a self-starter and comfortable working in an ambiguous environment.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be a fast-learner.
• Knowledge of WIP management principles.
• Must be able to be trained in proper handling of chemicals and hazardous waste.

 

DESIRED:

• Associate’s degree or higher.
• Basic understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Past supervisor or lead experience.

• Standing or walking over two-thirds of the time.
• Perform manual processing of wafers using chemicals to clean and etch wafers requiring frequent use of arm and wrist movements.
• May be required to use microscopes for long periods of time to perform wafer and die level inspections.

• Works in wafer fabrication and clean room environment, requiring clean room gowning (smock, hood, gloves, booties, etc.)
• Exposure to moderate noise levels.
• Exposure to stored energy hazards (electricity, compressed gases, etc.)
• May be required to use microscopes for extended periods of time.
• Exposure to chemicals needed for processing wafers- such as alcohol, acetone, acids, solvents and photo resist.
• Works in a facility that houses hazardous chemicals.
• May potentially handle hazardous waste in accordance with the safe work practices defined in Hazardous Communication and Hazardous Waste training programs. Initial training is required upon hiring status and every 3 years thereafter. Employees handling hazardous waste will insure that waste containers in their work areas are properly labeled and dated. Employees will ensure that waste containers are closed after transferring waste to them. Report any incidents involving hazardous waste to supervisor.

• Other duties as may be assigned.
