Primary Purpose
Guides multiple crews and contractors in executing complex construction and maintenance projects. Ensures compliance with specifications, implements standardized inspection protocols, and fosters continuous improvement in field practices.
Reports to New Business Operations & District Planning within Gas Distribution. Leads a technical planning team on complex construction and maintenance projects. Accountable for cost estimates, change orders, contracts, schedules, metrics, and variance analysis. Interfaces with internal groups, customers, municipalities, and permitting agencies; manages staff per company policy and union agreements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees the development and enforcement of gas-specific safety protocols in accordance with industry regulations.
- Guides the installation of gas facilities, restoration, and paving work through company and contractor crews.
- Leads the prequalification, selection, and performance assessment of third-party contractors and suppliers.
- Implements lean construction methodologies and standardized work practices to reduce waste and enhance output.
- Leads post-construction reviews and root cause analysis for gas leaks, repair failures, or rework events.
- Implements standardized inspection and reporting procedures to ensure consistent quality across all field operations and contractor work.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QualificationsEducation- Required: Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Experience- Required: Typically requires 5 years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Required: Power Distribution Systems Management - Managing the delivery of power to end users via interconnected systems.
- Required: Gas Engineering - Design and advise on smooth and safe supply or utilization of gas, including the development, construction, installation, operation, maintenance and repair of gas and gas-related technology.
- Required: Energy Operations Management - Overseeing the proactive, organized and systematic management of energy use in a building or organization.
- Required: Outage Management - A variety of computer-aided systems to identify outages and provide instant alerts, and return power to the electrical distribution systems/ grid.
- Required: Systems Performance Monitoring - Measuring the performance of a system in real time in order to determine problems and other factors that may cause problems in the future.
- Required: Corrosion Control - Implementing processes and methods of combating corrosion by protecting metals against corrosion.
- Required: Health & Safety Management - Designing, developing and implementing formal management systems that can help manage health and safety.
- Required: Regulatory Compliance - Ensuring an organization's adherence to laws, regulations, guidelines and specifications relevant to its business processes.
- Required: Troubleshooting - The systematic process of diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, or network issues to restore normal operation.
- Required: Inspection Management - A critical process of quality control that involves measuring, examining, and reviewing materials against standard requirements to ensure materials or components conform to the standards and latest guidelines.
Other Qualifications- Required: This position adheres to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and will be subject to drug and alcohol testing as required by 49 CFR Part 40, 199, and 382, respectively. Applicants must meet all DOT requirements for safety-sensitive positions.
