Legal Aid Alberta is seeking to fill a Full Time, Temporary Communications Intern in our Edmonton office. This position will appeal to an individual that likes to take initiative, is client focused and is exceptionally strong in delivering high-quality results.

Job Description Reporting to the Manager, Communications, some of the key responsibilities include: • Research, write and contribute content for LAA’s internal and external websites, social media and print/digital publications. • Create content for social media platforms with a strong focus on video and photo content. • Seek and provide ideas and interviews for stories, social media and external news. • Assist with writing and production of communications materials, digital and multimedia assets, including brochures, pamphlets, displays and ads. • Help with planning, organization and staging in-person and virtual events. • Co-ordinate photography, graphic design, audio/video production and social media activities as required. • Other duties as required.
Education and Experience: • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a post-secondary education program in communications, journalism or a related field. • Experience with web content management systems is an asset. • Social media experience is an asset. • Experience with video creation and editing.
Knowledge and Skills: • Video editing and graphics software (Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects) and photo editing software (Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop). • Strong familiarity with mainstream social media platforms. • Knowledge of Canadian Press Style. • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), • Proficiency with design software, including Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator, is an asset. • Strong writing skills and demonstrated ability to produce written material for several different media (web, print, etc.). • Solid project and event management skills. • Highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with constantly shifting priorities. • Respect for confidentiality. Hourly Salary: $25.00 Approximate Contract Length: 4 Months – Projected start date of May 4, 2026
