Virginia Wesleyan University is seeking a hands-on finance professional who enjoys improving systems, building clear financial reporting, and working closely with leadership in a mission-driven organization.
This role works directly to strengthen financial reporting, improve internal systems, and support sound decision-making across the Finance Division and the University. The University has implemented Oracle Fusion’s ERP and will implement Oracle’s Student Information System (SIS).
There is an opportunity to shape financial reporting and systems to increase effectiveness and efficiency. Position will work with university constituencies, both faculty and staff.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Financial Reporting
-Prepare monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, and internal reports
-Support budgeting and the in-house Budget Dashboard tool
-Maintain general ledger accuracy
-Manage month-end closure
-Monitor accounts payable and receivable
-Reconcile financial accounts
-Work closely with outside auditor on annual audit and IRS 990 filing
-Supervise Junior Accountant and Accounts Payable staff
-Offer input to improve Oracle ERP financial reporting
-Improve financial workflows and documentation
Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (or equivalent experience)
-5+ years experience in accounting or financial reporting
-Strong understanding of financial statements
-Experience with Oracle Fusion ERP strongly preferred
-Strong spreadsheet and financial analysis skills
-Solid communication skills
