Job Purpose
To lead and optimise the performance, profitability, and growth of the Retail Banking distribution ecosystem across physical, digital, assisted, and alternative channels. The position holds full commercial accountability for driving retail sales, deposits, transactional activity, and customer acquisition, while ensuring the delivery of an integrated, efficient, customer‑centric, and digitally competitive channel environment.
Job Responsibilities
1. RETAIL SALES & REVENUE PERFORMANCE
- Own and deliver retail banking sales targets across deposits, lending, transactional banking and digital products.
- Translate Retail Banking strategy into clear channel-level sales plans, targets and dashboards.
- Drive branch, digital and assisted sales productivity through disciplined sales management.
- Make recommendations for alternate improvements to the business by reviewing non-performing areas.
2. CHANNEL STRATEGY & DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENT
- Develop and execute the Bank’s integrated channel strategy across branches, digital, contact centre and agency channels.
- Optimise channel mix to balance growth, cost-to-serve, customer experience and profitability.
3. DIGITAL CHANNELS & COMPETITIVENESS
- Drive growth in digitally active customers and transaction migration from high-cost channels.
- Champion digital innovation and automation to improve convenience and scale.
4. CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE & SERVICE EXCELLENCE
- Own channel-level customer experience outcomes including turnaround times and availability.
- Embed a customer-centric culture supported by Voice of Customer and NPS insights.
- Ensure quality sales standards are delivered by setting and agreeing to service level agreements with relevant stakeholders.

5. OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY & RISK MANAGEMENT
- Improve channel cost-to-income, productivity and utilisation.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, operational and fraud risk standards.
6. LEADERSHIP & PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
- Lead and develop a high-performance, sales-driven channel leadership team.
- Build future-ready capabilities across sales, service and digital.
- Set and allocate sales targets for the team.
- Review sales targets against performance.
- Implement performance agreements, ensure a clear vision, agree on goals and objectives, provide regular feedback on performance, recognise and reward achievement and take appropriate corrective action where required.
- Mentor and coach staff on identified performance gaps and agree on appropriate action.
- Motivate staff to perform and contribute to the success of the business by creating a teamwork environment.
- Stay abreast of developments in field of expertise, ensuring personal and professional growth.
- Conduct career conversations, utilise the talent grid principles and develop talent retention programmes.
- Understand and embrace the Nedbank vision and values, leading by example.
Preferred Qualification
- Bachelor of Commerce: Banking/ Business Management /Finance
- MBA

Minimum 10 years experience in Retail Banking, 4 of which must be in a sales leadership role
