Provide product life cycle support to the telescopic seating product line, including limited scope product enhancement and development. This role requires advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to work cross-functionally as well as with external suppliers and customers.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Life cycle manage telescopic seating line products through maintenance, enhancement, and value engineering initiatives
Responsible for Engineering Changes (ECs) related to the telescopic seating product line
Responsible for the development and maintenance of design documentation, drawings, BOM’s, test data, technical manuals, and all other related technical product documentation
Lead product and labor cost reduction initiatives in support of annual corporate cost reduction goals
Provide technical field support related to use, performance, quality and safety of telescopic seating products. Work closely with Quality and Customer Service to develop Cause and Corrective Action plans for product related quality issues
Work with Procurement team and vendor base to resolve product and material sourcing issues
Design and develop product line enhancements / new product line extensions from concept through production release
Conduct analysis, calculations, testing, etc. to ensure designs meet performance requirements
Support broader team as a technical reviewer and participate in problem solving, planning, strategy, etc. events

Can perform structural and stress analysis using hand calculations, spreadsheet tools and/or FEA.
Basic understanding of metal forming/joining, casting, machining, and molding/extruding plastics processes. Design and manufacturing knowledge of wood components and soft goods is a plus.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or related degree. PE license or desire to achieve is a plus
2 to 10 years’ experience in a related field preferred
3D modeling experience – mid to high level capability. Experience with AutoCAD Inventor is a plus
Prior structural design experience is a plus
Experience using rapid prototyping processes and product testing
Experience with ERP and PLM systems
Proficient with MS Office suite
Occasional, short duration travel is required
