WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING | THE ROLE
Key responsibilities include:
Support the Director, Taxation with ad-hoc tax research
Assist in various projects, including review of processes, internal GST review
Use technology to improve the data collection
Collect and analyze relevant financial and tax data
Digitization of tax documentation
Assist with research on various tax issues that arise from compliance or planning work
Support with the government audits
Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
Participate in other areas of tax department and assist on special projects as they come up
*Group Research project: Each summer, all recruited students take part in a collaborative project focused on a current maritime issue or a topic related to the company’s operations. The theme is selected annually by the program mentors and approved by senior management. This initiative represents roughly 20% of the students’ overall workload. Beyond fostering teamwork on a shared objective, it provides an opportunity to gain deeper insight into the dry bulk shipping industry.
WHAT YOU BRING | THE PERSON
Requirements:
Successfully obtained, or working towards, a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is preferred)
Previous tax or accounting related office experience is considered an asset
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
