JOB SUMMARY:
The On-Call Clinical Supervisor is responsible for providing both individual and group clinical supervision to Master’s level counseling student interns on a as needed basis; hours not guaranteed. In collaboration with the Chief Program Officer, Deputy Chief Program Officer, and Clinical Supervisor, the On-Call Clinical Supervisor participates in the Center’s clinical training program supporting Master's level counseling and social work students. This program will train student clinicians to become affirming, inclusive providers for the LGBTQ+ community. This program will provide free therapeutic counseling for LGBTQ+ youth 13-24 and adults, with the expressed goals of suicide prevention, increased sense of belonging, and positive mental health outcomes.
The On-Call Clinical Supervisor will support the clinical supervision of interns/trainees on an as-needed basis, documentation review, regularly communicate with university’s clinical programs, develop contracts between the Center and clinical student programs, recruit and interview clinical students, provide mental health subject-specific training to trainees and staff, grant reporting, and other administrative duties related to mental health service provision and grant compliance. The On-Call Clinical Supervisor ensures that clinical supervision and documentation are reviewed and completed within the Center's standards and professional guidelines and works with universities to ensure compliance with learning contracts and documentation. The On-Call Clinical Supervisor may also carry a small client caseload, providing crisis intervention and counseling services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Implement the Center’s student clinical training program, in collaboration with Mental Health Program Team.
- Provide individual and group clinical supervision, communicate regularly with university practicum team and ensure compliance and affirming care.
- Provide crisis counseling and therapeutic services as needed.
Implement the Center’s student clinical training program, in collaboration with Mental Health Program Team
- Build relationships with university clinical programs, grow collaborative clinical counseling for university contracts, and ensure compliance with university requirements.
- Recruit and interview Master’s level clinical students who are motivated to serve the LGBTQ+ community, including youth ages 13-24, and passionate about becoming inclusive and affirming clinicians.
- Review and complete necessary university clinical supervisor training and documentation to become an approved clinical site for students.
- Maintain licensure in good standing and ensure compliance with BBS guidelines for providing clinical supervision.

- Provide clinical supervision of Master’s level trainees/interns, both individual and group weekly.
- Provide ongoing training for students to increase clinical learning with trauma-informed, inclusive and culturally responsive therapeutic modalities and provision of affirming therapeutic techniques and services. Training to include suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention and de-escalation, confidentiality and mandated suspected abuse reporting.
- Review and complete client and university documentation within the Center’s and professional/BBS guidelines.
- Assist with day-to-day mental health department operations and administrative duties, including grant reporting, and counselor compliance with policies and protocols.
- Provide onboarding, training, and consultation to staff and student interns/trainees.
- Assist with the university partnership agreements and the recruitment of new counseling interns/trainees.
- Provide support, guidance, and training to agency staff and students as needed.
- Represent the agency in a professional manner with universities and community partners.
- Submit timesheets and university documentation, including student learning contracts, in a timely manner, per agency and university requirements.
- Provide coverage for Mental Health Program Manager duties, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Provide crisis counseling and therapeutic services
- Provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed, inclusive, and affirming crisis intervention and counseling services, both walk-in and ongoing counseling.
- Complete client documentation per agency and BBS guidelines.
- Maintain strict client confidentiality and suspected child abuse and elder abuse reporting requirements.
- Provide suicide risk assessments and appropriate linkage to crisis and ongoing resources.
General Duties:
- Functions as a strategic member of the Center team, ensuring mission-driven services and programming.
- Facilitate or participate in staff meetings, planning meetings, and other meetings as required
- Highly collaborative with staff and leaders within the organization, and with universities and community partners.
- Available for clinical consultation with students and staff.
- Manage a variety of tasks in developing and managing the clinical training program for master’s level counseling and social work students and other related duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ+ people, especially transgender individuals and their families.
- LCSW or LMFT, with a minimum of 2 years of Clinical Supervisor experience required, post-licensing.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in an intersectional environment.
- Availability: Center business hours, with some flexibility to include evening and weekend hours to meet the needs of the program. Hours will vary based on the program's needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Passion for the Center’s mission and work to create a region where LGBTQ people thrive, and a commitment to follow all policies and procedures of the organization.
- Knowledge and understanding of the issues, needs, and interests of 2S/LGBTQIA+ individuals, including a comprehensive understanding of the intersections of race, gender, gender identities, and sexual orientation.
- Experience working with queer and transgender Black, Indigenous, and other persons of color experiencing homelessness, undocumented community members and asylum seekers, people living with HIV/AIDS, people with mental health and addiction issues, non-native English speakers, and having modeled a client-centered approach is critical.
- Education and Licensure: LCSW or LMFT with 2+ years of post-Licensure required; Completion of BBS requirements for supervising ASWs, AMFT’s, and APCCs is required.
- Current BBS Registration and an active certificate of insurance for professional liability are required.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of clinical supervision experience post licensure is required.
- Computer/Office Equipment Skills: Superior proficiency working with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Teams, and database systems.
- Access to reliable automobile transportation with a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required. Travel by automobile throughout the Sacramento area will be required.
- Physical Demands: The person in this position may be required to sit or stand for extended periods, maneuver in tight storage spaces, move objects up to 25 pounds, ascend/descend stairs, operate office equipment, open and close filing cabinets and boxes, observe visitors, and communicate messages by telephone.
