About the role

As ADA Australia’s Assistant Finance Officer, you’ll be part of a supportive Finance Team that values accuracy, integrity and continuous improvement. Working closely with the Senior Finance Officer, you’ll contribute to smooth day‑to‑day financial operations, including banking, reconciliations, reporting, system maintenance, purchasing and payments.

You’ll play an important role in maintaining strong financial governance, supporting staff to understand financial processes, and ensuring compliance with legislation, quality standards and funding requirements.

Key duties include:

• Maintain accurate, compliant financial records and systems.
• Assist with preparing GST, FBT, BAS and other statutory returns.
• Prepare weekly payment runs and support month/year-end processes.
• Manage the Accounts inbox to ensure timely responses and processing.
• Contribute to financial reporting for the Board, CEO, Executive Management Team and external funding bodies.
• Support purchasing, credit card management, bank reconciliations, invoicing and accounts processing.
• Provide guidance and training to staff to build understanding of financial policies, procedures and best‑practice processes.

About you:

• Tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Proficiency in financial systems (preferably WIISE) and MS Office.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience in developing financial procedures and training staff.

Essential requirements:

• Valid Queensland Driver’s Licence.
• Current National Criminal History Certificate (less than 3 years old).
