

Library-IAH Open Access Subvention grant supplements the Arts and Humanities Publication Support Grant for scholars in the arts, humanities, and qualitative social sciences openly accessible.

Please note that this grant is ONLY for Open Access publication subvention. For all other publication expenses, the Arts and Humanities Publication Support Grant will reopen on July 1.

Awards: The typical maximum for Open Access Subvention Grants is $5,000. Requests above this amount will be considered in the case of exceptional need or opportunity. Awards are to be used by one full year from date of award.
Reporting: Recipients are requested to include the Library-IAH Open Access Subvention Grant in the acknowledgements of any supported publication.
Applicants must be full-time members of the UNC-CH faculty holding any faculty rank. If on a teaching contract, the contract should not expire less than 12 months after applying. Priority will be given to applicants who have not received funding from this program in the past 3 years.

The deadline to apply for the Library-IAH Open Access Subvention Grants is April 20, 2026. The reviewers will try to respond to applicants within a month.
