Our South office is looking for a full-time Medical Assistant Pump Downloader to join the Clinical team!
The Medical Assistant (MA)-Pump Downloader is responsible for downloading CGM and pump data for patient appointments. This role also prepares patients to be seen by providers. This position may also assist with other clinical duties.
Key Functions include but are not limited to:
Downloads all patient pump/CGMS data in preparation for incoming appointments
Gathers and prepares provider chart notes daily
Rooms and interviews patients for medical history, prescription changes, and other updates. Records changes in demographic
Takes and records vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature
Performs foot exams for diabetic patients
Provides intramuscular and subcutaneous injections
Completes CGMS initiations including insertion, patient training, removal, result downloads for provider and cleaning/maintenance of devices
Assists doctors with biopsies including confirmation of facility, prepping biopsy, handing supplies and materials during procedure, cleaning, and sterilizing tools, and ensuring the specimen is sent to appropriate facility
For new patients: prints and attaches medical records, collects and scans Review of Symptoms (ROS) and Health questionnaire
Charts notes in electronic medical records (EMR) system and corresponds with providers and coworkers via Taskman
Cleans workstation, workup area, and patient rooms using appropriate germicidal wipes/solution; stocks and restocks all necessary supplies; cleans out expired drugs from sample closet
Follows appropriate opening procedures including biopsy room prep
Follows appropriate closing procedures include restocking, cleaning, shredding, and refilling paper. Also preps next day schedules and paperwork including chart covers, labs, etc. Contacts pathology lab for missing records as needed.
May occasionally assist with Pump/CGM Specialist duties
Additional Non-Essential Functions:
Assists with training of new staff
Assists with calls on the emergency/MD line
May assist with faxes and mail to include collecting and routing electronic and paper faxes to appropriate department folder or employee, routing provider mail noting last visit information, and scanning documents into the patient file
May act as the site’s point of contact for drug sample/drug rep management to include informing drug reps of drug sample needs, coordinating delivery, and maintaining the drug medication sample closet and drug medication inventory
May occasionally assist with moving or lifting patients up to 50 pounds

QualificationsExperience:
Required:
1 year of prior Medical Assistant experience
Preferred:
2+ years of prior Medical Assistant experience
Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program; Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credentials
Bilingual in English and Spanish
