Software Developer Intern

About the Role

We are offering a 3-month Software Developer Internship. You will work closely with a small team of experienced developers to extend, enhance and maintain the SecuritEase stockbroking application. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain exposure to a real-world financial services platform, structured development practices, and collaborative engineering delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Contributing to the development and enhancement of the SecuritEase Classic application

• Writing and maintaining application and database code (Prolog, Java, SQL)

• Investigating and resolving defects

• Creating and maintaining documentation

• Expanding automated testing and supporting quality assurance activities

• Developing embedded reports for internal and client use

• Learning and applying our Software Development Lifecycle processes

• Collaborating with developers, analysts and cross-functional teams

You’ll receive training in our development environment, architecture and business workflows, and will be supported by a Chapter Lead, Software Development Manager and experienced engineers throughout the internship.

About You

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree (or currently completing a Master of Software Development at Victoria University of Wellington)

• Experience with at least one major programming language (e.g. Java, .NET, C++)

• Working knowledge of SQL and database concepts

• Understanding of software development practices (Agile or Waterfall)

• Strong organisation and communication skills

• Curious, detail-oriented and willing to learn

Desirable (but not essential)

• Exposure to Prolog

• Microsoft SQL Server

• Git

• Reporting tools such as Jasper or Clear Reports
