Senior/Staff Software Engineer - HPC/HTC

The role

Our GPU & AI Hardware and Software IP teams need incredibly performant build and test workflows to help them deliver our upcoming IP roadmap - so we need a talented software engineer to help us build a revolutionary new automation system, and to keep our workflows running 24/7.

We are building a new “designed for AI” automation system that uses AI, ML and algorithms to relentlessly optimise the workloads we execute across our on-prem and cloud compute resources. This automation systems will enable our teams in research, hardware, and software, to schedule and trigger benchmarks and workloads on versions of our IP, to run on a variety of platforms (compute, emulation, FPGA, and real devices) then view real-time data and insight via a data platform and algorithms.

You will join us at the beginning of this exciting project and will help us to build production infrastructure and workflows, to migrate existing and new tools, and to capture and display data for humans and algorithms to consume.

Alongside all this new investment we need to keep the existing solutions running 24/7

We are looking for a software engineer to help us write performant workloads for distributed compute, to analyse workloads to understand how they can optimised, and to help ensure that our compute systems are always running at full capacity.

You must have attention to detail with a natural curiosity to spot anomalies in data and pursue why they exist. You should have the motivation and ability to debug complex tool-flows - and be excited to work with engineers to understand their needs and help them use resources in the most efficient way.

You will:

• Help upgrade our HPC/HTC infrastructure to the latest versions
• Help create cloud<->on-prem distributed compute solutions
• Collaborate with colleagues to create automation systems that transparently execute workloads across grid compute, emulators, FPGAs, and real devices
• Support and ensure uptime for our production distributed compute solution
• Write and/or use dashboards that monitor our production solutions
• Help deliver a culture of incredible service for our engineering customers

You might also have experience of, or an excitement to learn, at least one of the following:

• HPC and/or HTC systems (e.g k8s, slurm)
• Grid Engine(s) and/or LSF
• Containerization (e.g. Docker) and Virtualization
• Observability & Monitoring
• Enterprise-scale cloud workload deployment
